Some of the Top Merlot Wines in the U.S.

Some of the Top Merlot Wines in the U.S.

Even though the U.S. might not come across as the leading wine producer in the world, there is a lot of competitiveness between them and Europe.
If you think about wine, the first thing that pops into your mind is most probably not North America, but rather countries such as France or perhaps, Italy.
Nevertheless, of what people might think, the U.S. produces some of the most incredible wines in the world.
It is especially the case when it comes to red wines, especially Merlot.
Merlot is considered to be one of the most consumed wines in the world as it comes across as a much lighter type of wine and nearly anyone, starting out drinking wine, can enjoy it.
If you think about Shiraz, for instance, it has quite the acquired taste and is not enjoyed by many people anywhere. Shiraz is more appreciated by those who are regular wine consumers and perhaps, even more, the preferred drink for the wine expert.
It also cannot be paired with many types of food. When drinking Shiraz, you have to match it with a heavier meal. Think steak or dark meats, as well as pasta. When it comes to Merlot, however, it can be paired with next to anything and is light enough to be enjoyed, even by the first-timer.
The Best Merlots in the U.S.

Duckhorn Vineyards Merlot
With the compliments of Napa Valley, where this exquisite Merlot was produced, with a somewhat unusual name, it takes the cake of all Merlots in the U.S., and since Napa Valley is best known for their wines, this is recognised as simply, the best.
At $51, perhaps this bottle is considered a bit pricey for some, but it’s worth it. It has also been described as a complex wine, which makes it seem all the more intriguing, to begin with.

Blackstone Winemaker Select Merlot
With it’s black, yet elegant design, Blackstone impresses with their excellently produced Merlot. At $59, it is considered a small expense to bear for such an eloquent taste.
In fact, we reckon you’ll love it so much, that you’ll need a couple of these.
Stags’ Leap Merlot
Another favourite from Napa Valley, of course. Stags’ Leap is not Parisian inspired at all, even though the name refers to the Judgement of Paris itself. It is, however, the perfect Merlot. Just like Blackstone, complex seems to be the right word to describe the ideal Merlot.
Finished off with a fruity, yet spicy taste, as well as a hint of tannin, you’ll have a whole world of hints and scents with one taste of this Merlot.
Emmolo Merlot
Napa, Napa, Napa. That’s all we can say. Known for producing some of the best Merlot of all wineries, just like Stags’ Leap, it also has a perfect blend of fruit and tannin.
The bottle sells at the general price of $55 and is considered an entertaining, sweet addition to the night.
